About Cashout
Cashout is a free shift and tip tracker for tipped workers: servers, bartenders, baristas, hair stylists, barbers, delivery and rideshare drivers and others. You log each shift's tips, tip-outs, hours and mileage, and Cashout shows what you actually earned per hour, estimates the federal, Social Security, Medicare and state tax on it, and checks your pay stubs against the shifts you logged. It works offline with no account. Every feature is free, there are no ads, and the app has no analytics. It's built and maintained by one independent developer, NorseHorse.

What it does
- Shifts and tips. Log cash tips, card tips, tip-outs, hours and unpaid breaks for each shift, across more than one job. Cashout works out net tips and your effective hourly rate.
- Taxes. Estimates of federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare, and state income tax for all 50 states and DC, with a tax savings set-aside and the next quarterly payment. Self-employment (1099) tax estimates are on Android only.
- Paycheck Check. Enter a pay stub and Cashout compares it with the shifts you logged for that pay period.
- Cash Flow. Your balance and recurring bills against the income your shift history suggests is coming.
- Tip Split. Split a tip pool by points and save the crew as a template.
- Mileage and Work Expenses. A mileage log valued at the IRS standard rate (on Android, the rate for each trip's date; the iPhone app uses one flat rate for now) and an expense list with receipt scanning. The receipt text is read on the phone.
- Overtime, Tip Reporting and Insights. Weekly overtime hours, tips earned against tips reported, trends and personal records.
- Exports. Shift reports as CSV or PDF and a year-end tax summary PDF.
- AI Coach. Ask questions about your own earnings. It needs an account, allows 50 questions a month, and sends summary totals (not individual shifts) to Anthropic's Claude through Cashout's server.
- Widgets. Home screen widgets for today's earnings, the week, tax savings and the next shift. On iPhone they currently need iOS 26.2 or later.
- Android only for now. A shift timer in a notification and a Quick Settings tile, Backup & Restore, and Spanish. These are coming to iPhone with version 6.0.
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't file taxes. Its tax figures are estimates, and the tax summary PDF is meant for you or your tax preparer.
- It doesn't connect to a bank or card account, and it doesn't move money.
- It doesn't track mileage automatically with GPS or import trips. You enter miles yourself.
- The No Tax on Tips and overtime deductions aren't in the app yet. The site's No Tax on Tips calculator covers them for now.
- The iPhone app is behind Android: it's English only and has no self-employment (1099) tax estimates.
- It isn't built for employers. It's for the worker.
Privacy
Without an account, your shifts and earnings stay on the phone. With one, they sync over HTTPS to Cashout's own server. Neither app has analytics or ad tracking. The Android app sends crash reports through Firebase Crashlytics, on by default with an off switch in Settings; they contain no shifts or earnings. Receipt scanning on Android sends Google basic diagnostics, never the receipt image or its text. Details are in the privacy policy.
Formerly NeighCheck
Cashout was called NeighCheck until version 5.0. Same app, same data, new name. Older articles, store reviews and links may still use the old name. More on the change: NeighCheck is now Cashout.
