AI Coach
The AI Coach answers questions about your own earnings in a chat, like which nights pay best or how this month compares with last. It's the only feature that sends a summary of your numbers to a company other than Cashout, so this page spells out exactly what goes where.
How it works
- Sign in to a Cashout account, so your shifts sync to Cashout's server.
- On Android, tap the AI Coach button on the Dashboard.
- Type a question, or tap one of the six suggested questions to get started.
- The reply streams in. Ask a follow-up in the same conversation and the Coach keeps the context.
- Open Past Conversations to pick up an old chat, rename it or delete it.
A usage counter shows how many questions you've used this month.
What it sends, and where
When you ask a question, Cashout's server builds a summary from the shifts you've synced and sends it, with your question and up to the last 20 messages of that conversation, to Anthropic's Claude API. The reply comes back through Cashout's server to you.
The summary is totals and averages, not your individual shifts:
- Your totals for this week, this month, last month and the year to date
- 30-day averages and your effective hourly rate
- Your average tips for each day of the week
- How many jobs you have, and your tax profile
- From the app: how many shifts you have coming up, your tax savings totals and your income goal
Your conversations are stored on Cashout's server. Deleting a conversation removes it from the app, but the server keeps it marked as deleted until you delete your account, which removes your conversations with the rest of your account data.

The 50 question limit is per account, so it's shared if you use Cashout on more than one phone.
What it doesn't do
- It needs an account and an internet connection. Without an account you can open the screen, but you'll be asked to sign in. Everything else in Cashout works without one.
- 50 questions a month. The count resets on the 1st.
- It only knows what you've synced. If you logged shifts offline and they haven't synced yet, the Coach won't see them.
- It doesn't see individual shift notes, receipts or receipt photos.
- It isn't financial or tax advice. It's an AI model working from your totals, and it can be wrong. Check anything important, especially about taxes, against our guides or a tax professional.
- It doesn't change anything in the app. It answers questions; it doesn't log shifts or edit your data.
