Cash Flow
When your income changes every shift, "can I pay rent on the 1st?" is a real question. Cash Flow answers it from your own shift history, your schedule and your bills, and shows a range instead of pretending to know exactly what next week's tips will be.
How it works
Can I afford it?
- On Android, open Insights, then Tools, then Cash Flow.
- Under Can I afford it?, enter your Current balance, the expense (rent, a car repair), its Amount and its Due date.
- Cashout counts the shifts you have scheduled before the due date, estimates what each one earns from the shifts you've logged, and takes out your active recurring bills.
- You get a plain answer, from "Very likely you can cover it" to "Unlikely with what's scheduled right now", with a worst case, likely and best case balance left after it's paid.
- The Balance projection chart shows your balance day by day with a range, and Key days points out the days your balance could dip below $0 on a slow week.
Each scheduled shift counts on the day you work it. Wages and card tips may not reach your bank until payday, so leave yourself some room.
Recurring bills
Under Recurring bills, tap Add bill and enter a name, the amount and how often it's due: weekly, every 2 weeks or monthly. Monthly bills take a due day; a day past the end of a short month lands on its last day, so 31 means the 30th in April. Turn off Include in forecasts to keep a bill on the list without counting it.
Income Goal
On the Dashboard, set an Income Goal: a target amount for the week or the month. The card tracks how far along you are. The goal is also shared with the AI Coach if you use it, and it syncs if you have an account. On Android you can Remove Goal at any time without touching your shifts.
Android and iPhone
| Android | iPhone | |
|---|---|---|
| Cash Flow forecast | Yes | Yes |
| Weekly and every 2 weeks bills counted | Yes | Coming to iPhone; 5.0.0 only takes out monthly bills |
| Bills sync with an account | Yes | Coming to iPhone |
| Income Goal | Yes | Yes |
On iPhone, bills are under Manage Bills. If most of your bills are weekly or every two weeks, the iPhone forecast in 5.0.0 will look better than it should.
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't connect to your bank. You enter your balance yourself, and the forecast is only as current as that number.
- It's a statistical forecast from your own history, not a promise. A slow month or a cut shift will change it.
- No scheduled shifts before the due date means no income is counted. Add your shifts in the Calendar tab first.
- It doesn't send bill reminders or due date notifications.
- Income Goal is one earnings goal at a time. There are no savings or purchase goals.
- It doesn't move or hold money.
Cash Flow and Income Goal work with no account and no internet.
