Tip Split
At the end of the night, Tip Split divides the pool by points so everyone can see their share before anyone counts out cash. Save the crew you usually close with and the next split takes seconds.
How it works
- On Android, open Insights, then Tools, then Tip Split.
- Enter the Tip pool, the total to divide.
- Tap Add team member for each person. Give each row a role or name and a number of points (Pts).
- The Split updates as you type. Points set each person's share: someone with 1.0 points gets twice the share of someone with 0.5.
- Tap Share split to send the result as text to a group chat or the person handling the cash.
- Tap Save team as template and give it a name, like "Friday close". Next time, Load template brings the same people and points back, and you just enter the new pool.
How points work
Each person's share is their points divided by everyone's points added together, times the pool. If a server has 1.0, a busser has 0.5 and a runner has 0.5, that's 2.0 points in all: the server gets half the pool and the busser and runner get a quarter each. Points let your house decide that some roles get a bigger cut without anyone doing fractions on a napkin.
On Android, the shares are rounded to the cent so they add up to exactly the pool. Cashout uses the largest remainder method: everyone is rounded down to the cent, and the leftover cents go one at a time to the people whose exact shares were rounded down the most. Nobody comes out a penny short and no penny is left over.

iPhone had Tip Split first. Android added it in 6.0.0.
What it doesn't do
- It splits by points only. There's no split by hours worked and no even split button. If your pool is divided by hours, use our tip pool calculator, which does hours, points or equal shares in your browser. For an even split, give everyone the same points.
- The split isn't saved as a record. Only the team template is saved. If you want your own share counted in your earnings, enter it on your shift as tips, or enter what you paid in as a tip-out.
- It doesn't move money or pay anyone. It does the math and gives you text to share.
Tip Split works with no account and no internet. An account only matters if you want your templates on more than one Android phone.
