Insights
Insights turns the shifts you log into answers you can act on: which nights to ask for, which section pays, whether this month is ahead of last, and which of your jobs is worth the hours.
How it works
Open the Insights tab. On Android the money tools (Taxes, Cash Flow, Paycheck Check, Tip Split and Overtime) sit at the top under Tools, followed by the This pay period forecast and these cards:
- Trends (YTD): earnings, tips and hours over the year.
- Best Days: average earnings per shift for each day of the week.
- Best Shifts of Day: average earnings by start time. Only shifts with a start time logged count.
- Job Comparison: earnings and effective hourly rate by job, with each job's share of your earnings.
- Tip-out Ratio: the share of your gross tips you paid out, by month.
- Best & Worst Shifts and Shift Stats (YTD).
Compare Periods
Pick Week, Month, Year or Custom and Cashout compares it with the period right before it: earnings, hours and hourly rate, with a chart. A custom range is compared with the same number of days just before it, so a 10 day stretch is measured against the 10 days before that.
Tip Analysis
Look at your tips for This year or All time, broken down by day of week, time of day, job or section, with a rolling average. Tips are per shift, after tip-out, and the hourly rate counts wages and tips. If you tag shifts with sections, this is where you find out whether the patio really beats the bar.
Records
Records tracks your best shift, best tips, best hourly rate, longest shift and lowest-earning shift, plus your current and longest streak. When a new shift beats a record, Android shows New personal best! The best hourly rate record only counts shifts of 2 hours or more.

On iPhone 5.0.0, Period Comparisons can compare a period that's still in progress with a whole one, so this week can look behind last week when it isn't. Personal Records may not update after you edit or delete a shift.
What it doesn't do
- It's based only on what you log. Gaps in your logging show up as gaps in your insights.
- It doesn't pull in outside data or predict tips from anything other than your own history.
- It doesn't compare you with other workers. For that, the anonymous wage reports are in the Break Room, which needs an account.
- Averages from a handful of shifts can mislead. The more you log, the more useful the cards get.
Insights works with no account and no internet.
